Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG) is a major international airport and the seventh busiest in Canada by passenger traffic. Located in the western region of Winnipeg, Manitoba, just nine kilometres from downtown, it serves as a vital transportation and economic hub for the province and surrounding region. The airport has a rich history dating back to its opening in 1928 as Stevenson Aerodrome. Operated by the Winnipeg Airports Authority, it was renamed in 2006 to honor James Armstrong Richardson, a pioneer of Canadian commercial aviation.
