ABOUT
The Wellness Tourism Association (WTA), founded in 2018 as a U.S.-based nonprofit, is a global network dedicated to advancing the wellness tourism sector by bringing clarity, connection, and credibility to a fast-growing industry. Its members include destination marketing organizations, hotels, resorts, retreats, tour operators, travel advisors, wellness practitioners, and other stakeholders. The WTA’s mission is to support well-being through travel by fostering connection, collaboration, education, and leadership. Key initiatives include establishing industry standards, publishing the first Glossary of Wellness Tourism Terms, commissioning research, and launching the first Wellness Travel Specialist Course.
In 2025, the WTA relaunched as a for-profit entity under Robin Ruiz, founder and CEO of Wellness in Travel & Tourism (WITT), who now serves as President & CEO. The relaunch focuses on uniting industry leaders, strengthening relationships, enhancing advocacy, expanding education, and introducing new member benefits and events. The WTA remains committed to shaping a sustainable, authentic, and impactful future for wellness travel while raising standards and community impact worldwide.
