ABOUT

Virgin Atlantic Airways, founded in 1984 originally as British Atlantic Airways, is a British airline renowned for its innovative approach to air travel. Visionary entrepreneur Sir Richard Branson acquired and renamed the company, launching its inaugural flight from London Gatwick to Newark on June 22, 1984. Now a part of the Virgin Group, which holds a 51% stake alongside Delta Air Lines’ 49%, it operates as a key member of the SkyTeam alliance with headquarters near London Heathrow.

Over more than four decades, Virgin Atlantic has established itself as Britain’s premier long-haul carrier, serving international destinations across North America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East, and Asia, with main hubs at London Heathrow and Manchester Airport. The airline operates one of the youngest and most advanced fleets in the industry, featuring twin-engine aircraft such as the Airbus A350-1000, Airbus A330-900neo, and Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, emphasizing a strong commitment to sustainability through reduced carbon emissions.

Virgin Atlantic’s onboard experience is tailored to diverse traveler needs through a three-tier cabin offering: Upper Class, which provides luxurious business class amenities including fully flat beds and exclusive social spaces; Premium, which delivers enhanced comfort with wider seats and extra legroom; and Economy, available in Light, Classic, and Delight options, all featuring complimentary dining, world-class entertainment, and ultra-fast Starlink Wi-Fi. The airline continues to lead with a distinctive personality, pioneering spirit, and dedication to exceptional customer service.
