Viking Cruises, founded in 1997, offers destination-focused journeys on rivers, oceans, and lakes worldwide. Travel + Leisure rates Viking as the top choice for river, ocean, and expedition cruises. Viking operates award-winning, identical Longships® on Europe's major rivers, including the Rhine, Danube, Seine, and Rhône, as well as rivers in Egypt and Southeast Asia. Viking introduced ocean cruising in 2015 with the Viking Star and has since added several sister ships. These ocean vessels are smaller than many mainstream cruise ships, carrying about 930 guests, which allows access to smaller ports and provides more time in each destination.
