The Travel Institute is a nonprofit education and certification organization dedicated exclusively to the travel industry. Founded in 1964 as the Institute of Certified Travel Agents, it has operated for more than six decades as an organization serving travel professionals across North America. Widely regarded as a leading provider of industry training and credentials, it supports new entrants, experienced agents, managers, and executives through structured education, professional standards, and lifelong learning.
Its mission is to empower travel professionals through education while fostering a community grounded in knowledge, ethics, and high service standards. By working closely with industry leaders, suppliers, and academic partners, its programs are designed to meet real‑world business needs. The educational pathway includes the TRIPKIT introductory program, along with the Certified Travel Associate, Certified Travel Counselor, and Certified Travel Industry Executive designations. These offerings combine self‑paced learning, online instruction, and proctored exams to validate professional competence. To date, more than 30,000 professionals have earned advanced certifications, with thousands more supported each year through specialty courses, webinars, and continuing education.
