RIOgaleão – Aeroporto Internacional Tom Jobim (GIG) is the main international gateway to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Located on Governador Island, about 20 km north of downtown, it connects Rio to destinations across Europe, the Americas, Africa, and the Middle East. The airport adopted the name Antônio Carlos Jobim in 1999, honoring the Brazilian composer behind the song “Samba do Avião.” GIG remains one of Brazil’s busiest airports for international traffic.
