ABOUT
The Guatemalan Tourism Institute, known as INGUAT (Instituto Guatemalteco de Turismo), is the country’s tourism authority. It is responsible for regulating, promoting, developing, and ensuring the sustainable growth of tourism in Guatemala.
INGUAT’s mission is to govern, control, and promote sustainable tourism development in Guatemala, working in line with national laws and sectoral plans while coordinating efforts among public, private, and civil society sectors. The institute aims to position tourism as a key driver of economic and social growth under a sustainability framework, boost Guatemala’s international competitiveness, and enhance quality of life for local communities.
Key functions include promoting Guatemala both nationally and internationally by highlighting its culture, natural beauty, and regional diversity. INGUAT also implements sustainability standards and develops global marketing campaigns.
