Great Rail Journeys is a UK specialist in escorted rail holidays, founded in 1973 with its first tour to Egypt. Based in York, opposite the railway station, it has more than 50 years of experience creating journeys worldwide. The privately held company offers over 350 tours across more than 40 countries and welcomes over 55,000 customers each year. Its network includes sister brands Rail Discoveries in the UK and Vacations by Rail in the USA. As an ABTA- and ATOL-bonded operator and AITO member, it provides customers with financial protection and recognised industry standards.

Its holidays combine iconic rail routes with carefully chosen hotels, guided excursions and, on selected itineraries, river cruises. Customers can choose from small-group escorted tours with a UK Tour Manager, flexible independent rail holidays, tailor-made breaks and luxury train experiences.
