ABOUT
The Gambia Tourism Board (GTB) is the national agency responsible for promoting, developing, regulating, and overseeing the tourism sector in The Gambia. Established by an Act of the National Assembly in July 2001, the GTB plays a central role in shaping the country’s tourism landscape and ensuring sustainable growth within the sector.
GTB actively markets The Gambia under the tagline “The Smiling Coast of Africa,” targeting high-spending, upmarket tourists and promoting the country as a year-round destination, not just a winter getaway. The focus is on developing unique experiences, such as community tourism, cultural tours, and eco-tourism, as well as enhancing conference and MICE offerings. GTB works closely with the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, local businesses, and international partners to improve policies, find investment opportunities, and create unified marketing plans.
