Cheddi Jagan International Airport (GEO) is the primary international airport of Guyana, located in the city of Timehri on the right bank of the Demerara River, about 41 kilometers south of the capital, Georgetown.
It was known as Timehri International Airport until March 1997, when it was renamed in honor of Dr. Cheddi Jagan, a former President of Guyana, following his death. The renaming honours his lifelong dedication to Amerindian people and Guyana's unity. The airport features several murals created by the renowned Guyanese artist, Mr. Aubrey Williams (deceased).
