A recent YouGov survey highlights changing travel preferences: 41% of people identify as introverts, 14% as extroverts, and 45% as a mix of both. Nearly half of respondents say they need a break after vacation to fully unwind, and 67% prefer destinations where social interaction is optional. These insights reveal a growing demand for travel experiences tailored to introverts.

Mattias Lundberg, licensed psychologist and Associate Professor of Psychology at Umeå University, explains that introversion involves choosing controlled social interactions over full solitude. He says, “Environments with less social pressure, more personal space and the possibility to withdraw can make it easier to preserve and regain energy. Sweden naturally offers many of these qualities, which makes it particularly well suited to travellers who want to experience a destination on their own terms.”

In Sweden, silence is naturally accepted, and solo activities like enjoying coffee alone are common. Personal boundaries are respected, and the country’s low population density, along with its unique public access law, allemansrätten, allows visitors to enjoy nature independently. This makes Sweden especially appealing for introverts seeking peace and quiet.
Susanne Andersson, CEO of Visit Sweden, notes, “Many travellers are looking for something surprisingly simple: the freedom to decide when they want company and when they don’t. Sweden has always offered that kind of space, in our nature, our cities and our social culture. The Introvert Travel Agency makes it easier to experience Sweden in your own way. Here, being social is an option, not an obligation.”
The Introvert Travel Agency is available online and will also appear as a pop-up event showcasing Sweden’s scenic beauty, spaciousness, and relaxed social culture—perfect for those seeking a quieter vacation.
The pop-up schedule for 2026 is as follows: Berlin from October 14 to 17, Paris from October 21 to 24, and London from October 28 to 31.
Sweden is quickly becoming a top pick for introverted travelers, offering a refreshing escape into both vast natural landscapes and calm urban environments. Watch the video below to learn more.
