ABOUT
The Botswana Tourism Organisation (BTO) is a government-established body that markets and positions Botswana as a premier tourist destination. It promotes investment and product diversification in the tourism sector. The organisation ensures tourism facilities are classified, certified, and graded to meet set standards. It collaborates with private stakeholders, local communities, and authorities to advance sustainable tourism development. BTO manages national marketing strategies, supports the expansion of tourism enterprises, conducts research, and runs awareness campaigns.
BTO fosters diverse forms of tourism, including cultural, heritage, eco-tourism, and recreational tourism. The organisation also manages a tourism land bank that promotes responsible, sustainable land use for tourism development. This includes protecting critical wildlife resources, notably the elephant population in northern Botswana.
