Royal Air Maroc is set to enhance its international network with the introduction of a new direct flight connecting Casablanca, Morocco, to Toronto, Canada. Starting December 8, 2024, this route will operate three times a week between Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) in Casablanca and Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ).
Flight Schedule
The inaugural flights will be scheduled as follows:
- Departure from Casablanca: Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays at 16:45 (local time) with an arrival in Toronto at 19:25 (local time).
- Return Flights from Toronto: Departing at 21:30 (local time) with an arrival back in Casablanca at 10:50 (+1).
The flights will be conducted using the state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliner, ensuring a comfortable travel experience.
Strengthening the North American Network
This new route marks Royal Air Maroc’s second direct connection to Canada, complementing its existing services to Montreal. The airline currently operates a strong network in North America, with direct flights from its Casablanca hub to major cities including New York, Washington, and Miami.
According to Mr. Abdelhamid Addou, Chairman and CEO of Royal Air Maroc, the new Toronto route addresses the significant demand from Moroccans residing in Canada, particularly in Ontario. He highlighted that this expansion would enhance the existing travel options available, particularly with the historical Casablanca-Montreal route that has been in operation since 1975.
Economic and Tourism Impact
Royal Air Maroc is a major airline connecting Africa and North America. The new route to Toronto aligns with the airline’s development plan established with the government in July 2023. This initiative aims to strengthen economic ties between Morocco and Canada.
It also positions Morocco as an attractive tourist destination. Royal Air Maroc seeks to improve convenience and comfort for Moroccan expatriates in Canada. The new flights will facilitate family connections and encourage tourism to Morocco.
