Sandman Hotel Group is a Canadian hotel chain founded in 1967 by Bob Gaglardi, starting with the first Sandman Inn in Smithers, British Columbia. It is a family-run business now led by Bob’s son, Tom Gaglardi, who serves as CEO. The group is owned by Northland Properties and is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia.
They operate more than 60 hotels across Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the United States, offering options from economy to premium luxury for both business and leisure travelers. At the heart of the portfolio is Sandman Hotels, Inns & Suites, where Canadian hospitality meets comfort, style, and value. In addition to the newest Sandman Signature openings in Saskatoon, Sherwood Park, Ottawa, Plano–Frisco (Texas), and Aberdeen (UK), the company is pleased to announce three more Canadian hotels opening soon in Winnipeg, Markham, and Dartmouth.
Internationally, Sandman entered the UK in 2011 with hotels in Newcastle, London Gatwick, Aberdeen, and Glasgow, with plans for Edinburgh Airport. They also acquired Ireland’s Portmarnock Resort, which features golf and spa facilities. The group received the Pinnacle Award for Hotel Company of the Year, highlighting its growth and strong reputation.
